Royal Navy Receives Honorary Membership of Tees Maritime

We were proud to welcome the Royal Navy as an Honorary Member of the Tees Maritime Cluster at our official launch this week – a meaningful moment that highlights the power of collaboration across Defence, industry, and education.

Held at the Port of Middlesbrough, the launch brought together leaders from across the maritime ecosystem. Among the highlights was the formal presentation of honorary membership to the Royal Navy – recognising their enduring role in championing maritime excellence, supporting national security, and inspiring the next generation.

This honorary membership isn’t just ceremonial. It reflects our belief that the future of the maritime sector depends on collaboration across Defence, industry, education, and government – working together to strengthen skills, build regional capability, and unlock new opportunity here in Teesside and beyond.

We were also delighted to be joined by colleagues from the North East Regional Defence and Security Cluster, highlighting the overlapping priorities and shared ambitions across our sectors – from logistics and technology to workforce development and strategic investment.

Together, these partnerships send a clear message: Teesside is serious about its maritime future. And we’re ready to lead the way.
