From the workshop to the catwalk
In June, Tees Maritime joined students and staff at Catcote Academy for their annual Trashion Show, where creativity, sustainability and a healthy dose of Hartlepool couture took centre stage.
Representatives from Tees Maritime, PD Ports and Typhoon International came together to judge the maritime category, celebrating the creativity and talent on display before announcing the winning design.
The students certainly didn’t disappoint.
Using surplus materials donated by Typhoon International, including fabric offcuts and even a pair of RNLI sea boots, they transformed everyday industrial items into imaginative, eye-catching creations. Think sequins, cloud hats and a pair of sea boots that looked more at home on a fashion runway than a lifeboat.
It was a brilliant reminder that creativity has no limits, and that sometimes the most unexpected materials can inspire the most memorable ideas.
A huge thank you to Typhoon International for donating the materials, and to everyone at Catcote Academy for inviting us to be part of such a fantastic event. Congratulations to all of the students who took part. The imagination, confidence and teamwork on display were incredible.
